Last weekend's NHK trophy was the last event before the Grand Prix finals and so it was crucial in terms of qualifying points. As well as being super competitive, it was also very very inspirational. The fashion on show at NHK was nothing short of fabulous, so lets dive in shall we?
First up Adam Rippon. Now I think on a lot of other men this shirt would not look right at all but on Adam it works brilliantly. This look for me is all about dressing to your strengths. The soft pastel colours and gentle billowing of the sleeves complement not only his peachy skin tone but the lovely lines he creates and the airy, ethereal nature of his skating.
Then we have Meryl Davis and Charlie White. These outfits are for their 'Giselle' themed, Yankee polka style short dance. And if that phrase doesn't get your fashion senses tingling then nothing will. These little themed beauties are classic old-school ice dance through and through. And I love the total commitment that they represent.
And we come to Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov. This look goes with their 'Ghost' themed free program. Its yet another example of simple but very effective. I love the contemporary dance feel to these outfits and the wonderful movemment in the material. Its clean cut, beautifully shaped and very modern and therefore matches the program very well.
Then there's Yuzuru Hanyu. Yuzuru wore this beautiful outfit for the gala exhibition. The colour tone is lovely, the flower embroidery is absolutely gorgeous and the shaping on the sleeves is fantastic. I love that its traditional with a twist and it suits delicate little flower Yuzuru perfectly. Very pretty and romantic, just like his programs.
Finally we come to Akiko Suzuki. She's a girl who always makes brave and interesting fashion choices and this is no different. The detail is amazing on this outfit and the skirt is brilliant for skating. Its a beautifully made dress and she looks beautiful in it.
Thank you to all the fashion fans and see you at the Grand Prix final skating fans.
